Aunt Donna’s Chocolate Cake

For Cake- (In large saucepan on top of the stove:)

4 tablespoons cocoa

1 stick real butter

1 cup water

1/2 cup Crisco

Bring to a boil, take off the burner then add

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Beat until well mixed, and then add

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 cup buttermilk

2 well beaten eggs

Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9 pan and bake at 400 for 30 minutes.

For icing – (in saucepan on top of stove:) Note icing should be made RIGHT before cake is finished baking as you will pour the hot frosting over the hot cake.

4 tablespoons cocoa

6 tablespoons milk

1 stick of real butter

Bring to a boil and mix well.

Remove from heat and add:

1 box of powdered sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla

Mix well with mixer and pour over hot cake.  Cool before cutting

If you like nuts in your chocolate, you can add chopped nuts to the top of the hot cake and then pour the icing over the nuts.
