Angel Biscuits

This is one of dad’s favorite breads. When you make angel biscuits, you don’t need a dessert because the whole family likes these with honey.



  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar


Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to milk/vinegar. Stir well. Add to flour mix. Mix until well blended. Knead for one minute or ‘til smooth. Roll into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut in circles. Place on ungreased pan. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes.

This dough is also good for cinnamon rolls and may be stored in fridge for 3-4 weeks.
