Ingredients
- 6 cups flour – unbleached is best
- 2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Mix dry ingredients. Cut in Crisco until small pea sized shapes appear. Store in fridge.
Different ways to use this mix
- Shrimp or Halibut breading: Add lemon juice & club soda to mix.
- Pancakes: Use 2 parts mix to 1 ½ part milk & eggs.
- Use 2 c. mix , ¼ c. oil, 1 ½ c. milk, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg (or 2).
- Waffles: Adjust pancake directions for favorite consistency (in the milk).
- Biscuits: 2 c. mix & ¾ – 7/8 c. milk. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-18 minutes. Can add garlic, cheddar cheese, pre-cooked sausage. Roll out to ½” thickness.
