Bis-Quick Mix

6 cups flour – unbleached is best

2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder

1 tablespoon salt

1 cup Crisco

1/4 cup sugar

Mix dry ingredients.  Cut in Crisco until small pea sized shapes appear.  Store in fridge.

Different ways to use this mix:

Shrimp or Halibut breading: Add lemon juice & club soda to mix.

Pancakes: Use 2 parts mix to 1 ½ part milk & eggs.

Use 2 c. mix , ¼ c. oil, 1 ½ c. milk, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 egg (or 2).

Waffles: Adjust pancake directions for favorite consistency (in the milk).

Biscuits: 2 c. mix & ¾ – 7/8 c. milk.  Bake at 450 degrees for 12-18 minutes.  Can add garlic, cheddar cheese, pre-cooked sausage.  Roll out to ½” thickness.
