Scones & Imitation Clotted Cream

Some neighbors in Alaska gave us this recipe. They said that nothing could compare with real clotted cream, but that this recipe was pretty good. Once at a tea shop, we tried real clotted cream…and we like this better!

Ingredients (Scones)

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

Directions (Scones)

Mix flour, Baking powder, salt, sugar and butter until crumbly. Add milk and fruit. Mix gently and do not over mix. Roll out dough. Cut into triangles or rounds. Place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg. Bake at 400º for 12-15 minutes.

Ingredients (Imitation Clotted Cream)

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Directions (Imitation Clotted Cream)

Mix all ingredients well.
