Caramels (Creamy)

Cook 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of white Karo for 10 minutes.  Then add 1 cup of Half and Half slowly so that boiling doesn’t stop.  Cook 5 minutes more and add 1/3 cup butter, again slowly so that boiling never stops.  Cook to hard ball stage.  Gently stir in 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon vanilla.  Let set 10 minutes.  Turn into greased square pan.  Let mixture set until cool.  Cut and wrap.
