Best Refrigerator Rolls

Lucas’ Aunt Sam always makes these crescent rolls for potlucks or holiday get-togethers. The funny thing about these rolls is that Lucas and his siblings always raved about Aunt Sam’s rolls and Aunt Sam said that she got the recipe from Lucas’ mom, Nancy!

Lydia

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 6 cups flour

Directions

Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar and salt.  Blend well; cool.  Add eggs.  Sprinkle yeast into lukewarm water; stir until dissolved.  Combine yeast with egg mixture; add flour.  Blend well; cover and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.  Dough will keep 1 week to 10 days.  About 2 hours before serving, roll into desired shapes, using extra flour to allow easier handling.  Place on greased pans; let rise at room temperature about 3 hours or until doubled in bulk.  Bake 400 for 12-15 min.
